Among the definitions for our modern use of the word epiphany is:

'a moment of sudden revelation or insight'

Being a word nerd I look to the origins of words:

Greek epiphainein - 'reveal'

Epiphany is the first day following the 12 days of Christmas and for Western Christians, the Feast of the Epiphany marks the visit of the Magi or Wise Men. 

Through the year I find in many beliefs, cultures, and traditions reason to celebrate. Born with the surname Wise I have always found Epiphany to be quite meaningful and the book you see pictured one I read aloud each year at some time during the holiday season. If you have not read it, I cannot more highly recommend it as my father did once many years ago to me. Like many simple tales its message can be revealing and profoundly insightful. May your Epiphany be as well.

theopenedbook.com began in 2007 with the help of my daughter Corri Lewellen and my dear friend Risa Lindquist. The ABOUT US is the same as it was written by Cor and The Welcome to theopenedbook.com on this page is the same as it was written by me 14 years ago. So much has changed over the years but the integral things have remained the same. 

Just as the brick and mortar shop known as The Opened Book has evolved over the years through requests and recommendations it is also my intention with this on line store as well. So please, let me know what you are seeking and I will do my best to provide that which you seek.
